September: Returning to Stillness
As September arrives, the world around us begins its gentle shift from the vibrant energy of summer to the quiet embrace of autumn. The air cools, the days grow shorter, and the world begins to quiet. Brilliant shades of gold and crimson appear as trees begin to release their leaves, letting go of what is no longer needed, and the earth prepares for a period of rest. In this season of transformation, nature invites us to slow down, reflect, and return to stillness.
In our own lives, this is an opportunity to pause, breathe, and consider what we might release—old habits, stress, or simply the rush of daily life. The practice of Reiki offers a gentle way to support this process, helping us find balance and clarity as we move through change, reminding us of the importance of stillness and quietude.
In Reiki, stillness is not emptiness, but a space of deep presence and awareness. Taking time for self-care, even a few minutes each day, can help us reconnect with our inner calm and prepare for the coming busy holiday season ahead.
A Favorite Autumn Reiki Practice
One of my favorite ways to honor this season is with a simple Reiki meditation:
Find a comfortable place to sit, perhaps near a window where you can observe the change in season.
Place your hands gently over your heart or on your lap.
Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths, feeling the air move in and out of your body.
Imagine the energy of autumn—the colors, the crispness, the sense of letting go—flowing into your body with each breath.
As you exhale, release any tension or worries, allowing them to fall away like leaves from a tree.
Stay in this space for as long as you like, letting Reiki’s gentle energy bring you peace and renewal.
As we enter this 9th month of the year, the number 9 carries with it the energy of completion, release, and spiritual awakening. Reminding us that endings are not losses, but transitions. September invites you to release what no longer serves your growth. Trust that any closing doors are guiding you to new beginnings, as you surrender to old cycles, and step into something far greater than you imagined. The message is clear: let go, trust the process, and get the rest you need in order to prepare for rebirth.
By embracing the lessons of autumn—letting go, slowing down, and returning to stillness—we can nurture ourselves and create a strong foundation for the busy months to come. Reiki is a beautiful companion on this journey, offering support, balance, and a reminder to care for ourselves as we care for others.
