Reiki Treatment

Reiki Ryoho (Spiritual Energy Healing Art) is a system of self-improvement and natural healing developed by a man named Mikao Usui from Kyoto, Japan in 1922. Reiki treatment assists the body in restoring balance for improved physical and emotional health. Its benefits include relief and reduction in stress, anxiety,  pain, insomnia, and digestive issues, and supports emotional healing, and overall well-being.

During a Reiki session, the recipient remains fully clothed while laying on a massage table or seated in a chair. Other accommodations may be made in the case of various health issues or disabilities.

A series of hand positions applied through gentle touch are used to  help stimulate the bodys self-healing mechanisms. Hands may be placed directly on or just above the body. No manipulation of muscle tissue occurs (as in a massage session).
A quiet, deeply relaxed state is encouraged for restorative healing. Reiki sessions are not a substitute for qualified medical care, but can safely be used in conjunction with medical or other therapeutic treatments. Reiki is a non-invasive and gentle technique which makes it an ideal tool for supporting overall wellness.  As a complementary therapy, it relieves stress and supports the bodys self-healing ability.

Massage Therapy

As infants, the first sensation we respond to is touch. In a 1990 study, premature babies who were given regular massages showed more rapid weight gain and were released from the hospital days earlier than non-massaged babies. Throughout our lives, touch remains a powerful experience. More than just a 'feel-good' experience, massage is the general term that describes a variety of techniques applying touch to the human body for therapeutic purposes. Although there are many different types of massage, they share certain recognized benefits: tension and stress reduction, improved oxygen and nutrient flow to tissues, positive immune system response, pain and fatigue reduction, alleviation of depression symptoms and an enhanced overall sense of well-being. While massage therapy alone is no substitute for medical care, it can prove a remarkably effective complement to mainstream health care. As a non-invasive, drug-free approach to health, a number of types of massage therapy have gained widespread popularity.

OrthoBionomy_ circlegrey.jpg

Ortho-Bionomy® is a gentle, non-invasive, system of healing that reminds the body of its natural ability to restore balance. Its principles are based on a simple and profound philosophy: allow the body to correct itself. The hallmark of Ortho-Bionomy® is pain relief. The founder, British-trained Osteopath Arthur Lincoln Pauls, discovered how to gently stimulate the body’s reflexes for self-correction in a way that supports a persons own healing mechanisms. The body is stimulated using gentle movements, comfortable positioning, brief compression, and subtle contact. The result is seemingly effortless pain and tension relief, natural re-alignment, relaxation, and a deep sense of well-being. The individual is empowered to participate in their own recovery and through the process, can begin to rediscover the ability to heal and restore comfort, ease, and balance back into their body. Comfortable, loose fitting clothing is suggested to allow full range of motion. (Unlike massage, you will remain fully clothed.) The practitioner works with you to identify areas of discomfort, tension and pain as well as areas of comfort and ease of movement. Gentle movements, comfortable positioning, brief compressions and subtle contacts are used. No forceful movements or pressures is applied.
